Types of Powder Coating
Epoxy powder coating
is recommended for use in interior situations where toughness, chemical resistance, and good mechanical resistance properties are essential. The protective properties of epoxy powder coatings are not impaired by exterior exposure, but chalking will occur progressively.
Typical applications include:
- Laboratory fittings and fixtures
- Machine Tools
- Indoor Sports and Recreational Equipment
Antique Finishes Suitable for interior use, these highly attractive hammer type finishes offer a tough patterned coating normally chosen for aesthetic value, but capable of disguising substrate imperfections. Available in:
- Gold
- Silver
- Copper
Polyester powder coating
is recommended for general exterior situations, where good weathering resistance is required. A specialised grade is available for architectural applications.
Typical Uses:
- Automobile and Cycle Components
- Garden Furniture
- Lighting Fixtures and Fittings
Epoxy polyester powder coatings
is recommended for use in interior situations where toughness, chemical resistance, and good mechanical resistance properties are essential. Epoxy polyester powder coatings also offer good colour stability and excellent decorative appearance and are not impaired by exterior exposure, although chalking will occur progressively.
Typical applications include:
- Electrical Enclosures
- White goods
- Light fittings
- Office furniture
- Business machines
Hammer Finish Suitable for interior use, this tough coating offers an attractive patterned finish capable of disguising substrate imperfections.
Polyurethane powder coating
is recommended for use in exterior situations when lower film builds with superior flow are particularly important. Specialised versions are available where high surface hardness is required, e.g. anti-vandal coatings, stain resistant coatings. This type of coating is popular with petrochemical companies.
Typical Uses:
- Domestic Appliances
- Power Washers
- Electrical Switchboxes
- Bus Shelters
- Radiators & Heaters
- Patio Furniture
- Ventilation Equipment
- Automobile & Cycle Components
Zinc Rich Primer Powder Coating
is recommended for use as an anti-corrosive primer where good-quality chemical conversion pre-treatment is recommended or specified but may not be available. Intended to be overcoated with a suitable coating, depending on the end-use application. The primer is partially cured prior to application of the topcoat in order to achieve bonding of the two layers. The substrate must be in a clean, rust-free condition prior to application of the primer.
Anti Graffiti Powder Coating
Graffiti is a problem that has strongly established itself throughout the world, particularly in inner city areas where it is extensively inflicted upon transport vehicles and buildings. Graffiti is usually in the form of a simple ’tag’ and large multi-coloured ‘murals’, using materials such as spray paints, permanent markers and dyes.
Graffiti is a form of vandalism and damage to buildings and property is both unsightly and costly to remove.
The cost in managing this problem is substantial and mainly met by councils, local businesses and the community. Graffiti protection coatings can be a cost effective solution for infrastructure providers. Anti graffiti systems eliminate the need to constantly repaint vandalised surfaces. By using an anti graffiti clean over a powder coated surface, all you need is graffiti cleaner to keep your city beautiful.
Typical Uses:
- Gates and doors
- Road signage
- Bus shelters and train stations
- Playgrounds
- Street furnishings

Pretreatment
Pretreatment of the surface is vital for ensuring a quality and long lasting result for our customers. We have a comprehensive on site ability to pretreat aluminium, zinc and ferrous substrates, including derusting, zinc phosphate, acid etch and chromate baths. Our large tanks can handle a broad size range of metal components.
All aluminium is pretreated to Australian Standard AS3715.
We also offer a Zinc Shield powder coating which can offer a protective surface similar to hot dip galvanising for certain applications.
Abrasive Blasting
Abrasive blasting is the process used to clean and/or etch a surface by means of an abrasive directed at high velocity against the product or surface.
Ace can abrasive blast product which is 2400mm high, 3200mm long and up to 2400mm wide.
